This morning I had arranged to catch up with Ben and Sarah in Swan Valley for the day. We had lunch at Sandalford.

For our entrees:

Myself - Squid ink tagliatelle with chorizo, squid and tomato
Ben - Calamari and a serve of handcut potato chips

Sarah had a serve of cheese which I didn't get a photo of. Some of the pictures are a bit dark because I didn't have time to play around with the settings on th camera since we were all so keen to dig into our food.

For our mains:

Myself - Lobster ravioli and Beef cheek
served on a bed of wilted Spinach and Enoki mushrooms
Sarah - Steak, Sausage and a delicious Beetroot lasagne
Ben - Herb crumbed Salmon steak

I absolutely love the alfresco dining at Sandalford. Our lunch was fantastic, the weather was beautiful - but as our lunch drew to an end, a bus load of loud, suspiciously tipsy youths strolled/swaggered past us on their way to the tasting room. They really should have a back entrance for the tasting room instead of having these people ruin our beautiful sunny lunch outside with their rowdiness.

Sarah learned about the wonderful cheese knife

After lunch we stopped by a few fruit and vegetable stalls beside the road and of course, the antique stores back on Guildford Road. I found a gorgeous English tea cup, saucer and sandwich plate set for Teresa.

Later in the evening, I went to Ling and Shallen's place for a surprise dinner. It was...PIZZA NIGHT!

We each made our own pizzas on pita bread and hungrily waited for them to bake in the oven. It was the first time I've had pizza on pita bread but it will not be the last - it was fantastic!! The thin pita doesn't fill you up like a thick pizza dough base would.

tomato paste
tasty cheese
sundried tomatoes
mushroom
grilled eggplant
salami
kalamata olives
rocket fresh from the garden

We also had a taste plate to whet our appetites while waiting for the pizzas to cook. Crackers, hommus, kalamata olives and a selection of cured meats.

Our pizza before and after shots

I made a quattro pizza by placing different toppings in each quadrant of my pita. (Who knew describing a pizza could be so technical!??). The first quadrant had ham, the second had salami and olives, the third had mushrooms and eggplant, the fourth had sundried tomatoes and rocket.

After dinner we got up to our usual antics with karaoke heehee.

For dessert, Ling and I baked some cookie dough that Shallen had bought at work from some sort of fundraiser. It's like icecream and tastes like chocolate chip cookie dough icecream! I shaped the dough into a bikini, knife and spoon, and some little *ahem* tadpoles. Out of the oven, we were in hysterics as the dough had really spread out.
