19-21 Mends Street, South Perth
I caught up with Mum, Christina and Jocelyn this morning for breakfast in South Perth. We had to wait a while until a table freed up but the food didn't take long to arrive after we ordered.

I bought some paneer yesterday and got busy in the afternoon trying a curry dish for tonight's dinner at Sarah's place. I thought I'd make a cauliflower and paneer curry. I googled a recipe that didn't involve grinding three different spice mixtures and three hundred steps. Plus, I didn't want to have to go out and buy any new spices.

In a pot, I heated some oil and then fried the onion, garlic and chillies. I added the spices and after a few minutes, added some tomato paste and chicken stock and cooked it for a few minutes - what gorgeous flavours! I then added a can of crushed tomatoes, the paneer, cauliflower, some fresh curry leaves and some water. Once the curry came to a boil, I covered the pot with a lid and simmered it on low heat for about half an hour.

Sarah marinated the horse in yoghurt overnight to tenderise it. If no one told me it was horse, I would have thought it was some cut of beef.Leftovers for lunch at work tomorrow? Yes please!

I cooked myself a big breakfast this morning and then started packing for my trip to Singapore! I'm flying out tonight to catch up with family and then I'll be joined by Shallen and Yen for a girls weekend!
I had the Basil Chicken Curry on the flight.

Omelette

Rocket, Cucumber, Capsicum, Sundried Tomatoes and Fetta Salad
Tonight we had an impromptu barbecue at my place. Kok Heng and I went to IGA and bought some meat and marinated it at home. We made vegetable kebabs and then fired up the Weber-Q when everyone arrived.

What do I do when I have the day off?

Breakfast!
I thawed out a chicken breast last night and for lunch I made chicken schnitzels. Instead of pounding the breast out to make it thinner, I sliced it into three schnitzel pieces. I pounded them a bit just to thin them a bit more.
In a large shallow baking dish I combined some bread crumbs and cajun spices. I coated the schnitzel pieces in a beaten egg, then in the crumbs. I panfried them in a bit of oil for a few minutes each side until the crumbs became golden brown.

I had the day off work today so I spent it pottering around at home getting chores done.

Breakfast
Baked Beans on Toast

Lunch
Baked Fish Fillet in Beer Batter with Salad
SHIMIZU GRAND
Shop 17, 1 Howtree Place, Floreat
Tonight we dined here at this restaurant and it was a ridiculously fantastic deal. A few weeks ago I had called the restaurant to speak to the manager to ask if I could purchase some gift vouchers to shout my cousin and his family to dinner to thank him for helping me install my air conditioners. After a few conversations, the manager told me he would email me the vouchers. I checked my email and chuckled when I realised that the manager had given me not gift vouchers, but gift vouchers. Two for the price of one!
I couldn't print the vouchers out for my cousin and give him money to pay for dinner, so I phoned a few friends and we went to use the vouchers. However, while I was there, I spoke to the manager face to face and finally got him to understand what I wanted. He printed out a gift voucher for me. Woo!
As usual, the food was awesome and great value! The buffet is normally $42 per adult and $20 per child. There is all you can sashimi, hot dishes, cold dishes and dessert.

Round One

Round Two

Round Three

You ask for tempura, wagya beef and takoyaki to be cooked fresh and brought to the table. Healthy and delicious food!

I had the day off work today so I treated myself to a nice breakfast that I ate while reading my book.

Bacon, Eggs & Baby Asparagus Spears
While grocery shopping in the afternoon, I was lucky to snag some oysters on special! A whole dozen for only $6.99. START THE CAR!
For dinner, I had:

A dozen Oysters Kilpatrick
Simply combine some tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, worcestershire sauce and tobasco sauce in a bowl with some finely chopped bacon. Spoon a bit of this mixture onto each oyster in the shell and bake in the oven for about five minutes at about 180C or until the bacon begins to crisp up and the sauce caramelises.

I had some friends over and cooked us all breakfast this morning. Ling and Shallen brought the freshly baked bread, Meng brought the eggs and Kong brought the chicken sausages!

Yummo!
We drove into Fremantle for a visit to the markets and had lunch at Taka's.

I enjoyed the Unagi Don and a pilsner from the Sail & Anchor.
We drove back to our neighbourhood and had coffee at Kelly's Cafe.
It was such a beautiful day, we took a stroll through the nursery and it was much like walking through a park.

I love the cherry blossoms that are in bloom.

I bought a pork hock from the shops the other day and have been looking forward to a night at home to spend a few hours making one of my favourites.

Ooh I love how tender the pork hock was...so juicy and tasty! I especially love that the butcher had sliced the hock so it was in smaller pieces and easy to tear the meat off.
