Pork and Prawn Siu Mai

They turned out okay but you have to eat them as soon as they're cooked or the wantan wrappers get tough. I also need to invest in some bamboo stackable steamers. I had to make do with placing a metal dish on top of my egg rings in the pot! They cooked great, but when it came time to take the lid off, the condensation from the underside of the lid dripped onto the siu mai!

The day started with dim sum at Dragon Palace with some of the Hollywood ladies. Yum!

I love love love the yong tau foo dish they serve!

I bought a cake for Kong's birthday since he didn't organise to celebrate it since we've been so busy with a wedding and Kok's birthday. As we were singing 'Happy Birthday' to him, he was grinning and looking at Kok because he thought it was for him!

Aiyaiyai...

Despite a bit of heatstroke yesterday after the beach ceremony, I had such an amazing day! We partied the rest of the night at EVE and when I think about it, I don't remember getting back to the hotel!

I was completely exhausted in the morning and was woken up to "Hey Saz, you look like sh*t".

We decided to head out for dim sum with the newly wed couple!

Uh oh - I actually didn't pack a change of clothes with me. I'd left them at Yenno's house! So...I did what any normal person with dignity would do.

Yep, I went to dim sum in my PJs.

The day began with Dim Sum!
This time we ordered the Rice Flour Roll with Prawns earlier and actually got it!

The Mango Pudding at Northbridge Chinese Restaurant is the best!

In the evening we went to the free WASO concert on the Esplanade foreshore. I've wanted to attend this annual event for a few years now but was always rostered to work on the night. This year I finally got the chance!

We enjoyed a gorgeous picnic before sunset and then settled down for the concert.

Shallen treated us to some Fish Crackers!!

It just so happened that tonight there would be a lunar eclipse - where the moon passes between the sun and earth. We drove up to Kings Park to watch it. Afterwards, we decided what better way to end the night than to go for supper at the Moon Cafe in Northbridge.

This morning I picked Mum up and we went for dim sum with Jocelyn and David. Jocelyn loves Dragon Palace but we were only able to get a table upstairs so as expected, it wasn't a great experience. The food is great but you have to be sitting downstairs and by the kitchen or you have to wait ages for the dim sum carts to get to you. If you're upstairs, forget it. The food is cold, the trolleys have the leftovers from downstairs and you wait ages for food.

Worst dim sum experience of 2011.


Anyhow, in the evening I set sail on the James Stirling out on the Swan River for a Pieroth wine tasting. Tonight's wine tasting was extra special though - Pieroth are attempting to break the world record for the most number of people tasting the same wines all around the world. In different cities all over the globe, people will be merrily tasting the same three wines at the same time. In Perth, it would be at 7pm.



A lovely night for sailing and drinking with friends.

Aah! The day started with dim sum with friends.

And I'm back here for dinner again! Jocelyn has been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now so we took Mum tonight. Mum is such a huge critic when it comes to eating out. She doesn't really like to dabble in other cuisines so we usually take her out for Asian. However, because she is such a great cook herself, she usually ends up either not liking the food or dissecting all the ingredients in each dish and telling us how easy it would be to cook it at home.

Tonight, however, she really enjoyed the food.

Honey Prawns

We didn't really like this dish. It tasted like the prawns had been deep fried much earlier and the sauce simply coated over them because the batter on them were soggy and not crisp.

Roast Duck

It's a pity Jocelyn forgot to ask for it to be boneless!

Spinach in Crab Meat & Egg Sauce

I really really like this dish! I wish Mum would recreate this one at home!

Sweet & Sour Fish

Definitely the runner up dish tonight! Delicious, crispy battered pieces of fish.

Jocelyn and David shared the Deep Fried Banana with Vanilla Ice Cream.

We started the day with some dim sum at Dragon Palace!

In the evening, my neighbours were so kind to invite me to their little shindig to celebrate their 60th birthday. The place was buzzing with their close friends and family and I felt so honoured to be asked to join them.

I talked so much (what's new!?) that I was still eating my steak when the birthday cake was being served!
