*raises her glass* "A toast: while most people eat to live, I live to eat. There's nothing like enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal with a fine bottle of wine in the company of fantastic friends. To life!"

After a few very busy weeks with the baby showers to organise and throw, I spent the day unwinding and getting some errands done. Nothing too complicated was on the menu either.
Breakfast
Omelette with Ham, Cheese, Mushrooms, Capsicum and Red Onion that was leftover from making pizzas last night.
Dinner consisted of two courses:
Cooked Tiger Prawns with homemade Cocktail Sauce
Oysters Kilpatrick

I had the day off work today so I treated myself to a nice breakfast that I ate while reading my book.

Bacon, Eggs & Baby Asparagus Spears
While grocery shopping in the afternoon, I was lucky to snag some oysters on special! A whole dozen for only $6.99. START THE CAR!
For dinner, I had:

A dozen Oysters Kilpatrick
Simply combine some tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, worcestershire sauce and tobasco sauce in a bowl with some finely chopped bacon. Spoon a bit of this mixture onto each oyster in the shell and bake in the oven for about five minutes at about 180C or until the bacon begins to crisp up and the sauce caramelises.

Dolmades, Sundried Tomatoes & Baby Asparagus Spears
Aah... the finer things in life.

I woke up early this morning to make breakfast to take into work for myself and the girls.

Wholemeal English Muffins with a Sunny-Side-Up Egg, Bacon, Cheese & Tomato Sauce

Better than Maccas...yes?

We had steamboat for the very first time tonight.

The Lim family brought me some fresh mandarins for my housewarming.
They looked gorgeous and were sweet and juicy!
After my guests took their leave, I put together a little platter for myself. Mandarin, vegie crackers and some flat chilli pancetta that I cut into little pieces.
A nice way to end the night.

Tonight I had a few friends over for dinner. I am enjoying the freedom to entertain in my own house!

We started with some nibblies and got stuck straight into the wine.
We had Chorizo & Fennel soup for entree but I forgot to take a photo!
For mains we had homemade burgers! I made the patties with beef mince, bread crumbs, an egg, herbs and spices to season, onion and garlic. I panfried them and then placed them on a burger bun and melted cheese over it in the grill.

Fresh sliced tomato, lettuce and sauce finished it off!
Served with some homemade Cajun Wedges.

I didn't have time to make dessert so I picked up a Sara Lee Apple & Berry Pie.
Another successful dinner!

I cooked on the stove for the first time today.
What did I make?
You guessed it...

Chicken and Pasta Soup

Onion, garlic, leek, carrots, celery, chilli, fresh grated pecorino - yum!
After work I was too tired to cook so I put together a few things, poured myself a glass of wine and sat down to flick through the junk mail.

Mum's roast pork, cucumber slices, dolmades and fresh asparagus.

Crackers with a spicy African dip.

100 St. Georges Terrace, Perth CBD
I have heard all good things about this little restaurant in the heart of the Perth CBD and have been eager to dine here. I caught up with a girlfriend for lunch and was instantly in awe at the design and chic-organic ambience.

The steak was perfectly cooked, the vegetables were cooked just a little under so they retained a bit of crunch and freshness. The sauce was a bit of an odd flavour to go with the steak. I would have preferred a mushroom or pepper sauce, or perhaps just a drizzle of olive infused with herbs to keep with the 'fresh' feel of the dish.

The dessert was fantastic! A nice, light strawberry yoghurt mousse with crumbled bits of meringue and pistachio. The fresh strawberries around the bowl were nice and sweet. A perfect summer dish.
I would love to try the cocktails here one evening!
After grocery shopping, it was nearing 5pm and the shops were beginning to close. I managed to grab two Cornjacks for half price - bargain!

After the late afternoon snack of Cornjacks, I skipped dinner and went to Noel and Fleurette's place for drinks and nibblies. I rummaged around in the fridge and pantry for an assortment of things that we put together.

A day of relatively healthy foods!
