omelette with the works
There was a chef preparing the omelettes to order. I asked for one with the works. It was absolutely delicious! He sautéed all the ingredients – onion, mushrooms, peppers, ham, etc – on the stove, then added the egg mixture. When the omelette was almost ready, he sprinkled grated cheese over the top and then folded it in half and served it to me. At the table, when I cut into the omelette, the heat of the egg had melted the cheese and it was divine!
The next four days were days at sea as we would be sailing over the Pacific Ocean towards the Tonga islands. It was windy, overcast and the waters were absolutely choppy. I could barely get the doors open to get out onto the deck at most times because of the strong winds. The first few days have been forecasted to be overcast and stormy but hopefully by the third day the sun will come out from behind the clouds to play.

The buffet in Horizon Court offered an array of hot dishes, cold salads, a choice of two soups, carvery, DIY salads, and desserts. At breakfast they had made-to-order omelettes, at lunch time they had made-to-order foccaccias. You’ll soon realise that I like to balance out what I put on my plate at the buffet. Always soup, some hot foods and salads. I never went back for dessert and I rarely went for seconds! I know, I honestly thought I would be living at the buffet but I suppose the daily threat of seasickness and keeping busy with the ship’s schedule of activities actually prevented me from overeating.
Each evening, we receive a newsletter named the Princess Patter which lists the next day’s schedule of activities onboard the ship. I made a habit of reading it in bed each night to plan what I’d do the next day. Today I went to check out the game of Pictionary in the Atrium Lounge. It was fun! I made some new friends who invited me back to join their team for trivia and future games.

Tonight we went to the Venetian Room which is one of two venues onboard that offer traditional a la carte dining. There's a dress code after 6pm every night so we had to change into some pretty clothes. We were assigned table 159 at 5:45pm every night and it was our choice whether we wanted to attend each night or go elsewhere to eat. We waited outside the dining room for a while because there was a mix up with table assignments. The ocean was really choppy at this time and we were trying our best to ignore it but a few times the ship rocked violently side to side and we could hear things falling over and smashing to the floor. I felt a bit anxious...if anything should happen...there’s nowhere for us to go!
Once inside and seated at our table, our anxieties melted away as we introduced ourselves to the other people on our table – whom we got to know over the next three weeks and are such lovely people.
Having had such a late afternoon snack, I only had one course for dinner.
After dinner, we went to the Vista Lounge to watch a comedian act. Afterwards, we popped into Jammers (the nightclub) and had a few drinks and danced.
The drinks onboard were unbelievably inexpensive! We decided to have a round of tequila and the cheapest one cost AUD$5.25 and the most expensive was about $7! Even more of a surprise was how much they gave us – it was a doubleshot! Bargain!
cream of asparagus soup with ‘cheese puffs’, stirfried vegetables,
rosemary roasted potatoes, mashed potato, some sort of stew,
green beans, baked fish, salad
Now I can’t remember everything that I ate so you’ll just have to take it at face value haha.
