118-120 Rokeby Road, Subiaco
To celebrate Ling's birthday tonight, we went out for dinner. Let's face it, no celebration of ours is complete if it doesn't involve food.
I've been walking past this restaurant everyday on my way to and from work and have been eagerly anticipating dining here. It always seems to be well set up inside, with all the tables elegantly set up for dinner service, complete with the cutlery, napkins and wine glasses. There always seem to be a gathering of people in there enjoying an after work drink.
The tables were really close to each other with little room to move between them. I suppose being packed in tightly and the lighting and music helped to create a cosy ambience. The waitresses appeared to be attentive and were good with refilling our water glasses and topping up our wine glasses.
We ordered entrees to begin with:
2 x with sea salt and extra virgin olive oil
2 x with corn and pequillo pepper - $4.8 each
with a carrot and caraway jus - $20
Food Styling by Meng.
with Lescure butter and walnut bread - $28
This included pork terrine, duck carpaccio and a delicious pate.
For our mains:
and an orange and anise sauce - $39
beetroot puree and roasted brussels - $41
We were all quite content with our meals. Meng shied away from the lentils on his dish though, so I think he was still hungry afterwards.
Overall, a pleasant dining experience!

We drove here for coffee and dessert.
I honestly don't know how he managed to eat it all.
It was pretty much a bowl of cream, stewed rhubarb and apple,
and a crunchy layer of crumble over the top.
A really good night was had by us all, but it shows we're getting old when we're all ready to call it a night before midnight!
