We had cake at work today!
A gorgeous, fluffy blueberry and cream sponge from Brumbys or Bakers Delight.

DELIZIOSO CAFE
Shop P141 Hay Street Mall, Perth CBD (above Carillon Arcade)

I must have looked at the wrong page in my diary because I showed up at work early. About four hours too early. So, I took the CAT bus into the city and wandered around in search of somewhere for breakfast. This place appealed to me because I was able to sit out on the balcony and watch people below.

I was greeted with a smile in my soy macchiato.
What an awesome start to the day.

Toasted Turkish Bread with Bacon, Egg & Tomato - $5.7

Oh my, this was sooo good! What an awesome idea for breakfast!! This is definitely worth recreating on our next weekend roadtrip.

TAKA'S KITCHEN
Shop 5 & 6 Shafto Lane, 347-417 Murray Street, Perth CBD

I had lunch with Kong before heading to work.

Assorted Sashimi

The sashimi is no where near as good as EDO's but it's edible. However, there was a piece of squid sashimi and I almost gagged on it. It was chewy, slimy and rubbery. Really gross.

Dinner at Work
Last night's Lamb

Dinner
Spaghetti with Baby Clams

EDO Japanese BBQ Restaurant
320 Barker Road, Subiaco

Yes, we had lunch here again today. With this warm weather, all I feel like eating is sushi. Ironically, while my friends are all flying over to Japan for holidays, I'm in Perth satiating my own hunger by eating Japanese for lunch.

I was disappointed that my sashimi today was of a much lower standard than yesterday.

Compare the two.

Yesterday's sashimi.

Today's sashimi.

After lunch we went for coffee and cake. Yes, I've been eating out alot lately. I'm resigning my job in Subiaco so I'm trying to enjoy the food in my last few weeks!

Vince's Strawberry Cheesecake.

My Rhubarb & Raspberry Pie.

Dinner
Roasted Lamb Rack with a Garlic, Sage & Macadamia Crust
Capsicums stuffed with Cous Cous

In a food processor, I blended fresh sage leaves,
garlic, black peppercorns, sea salt and macadamias.

I added olive oil to the mixture and molded it onto the lamb.

I wrapped the protruding bones in aluminium
foil to stop them from burning in the oven.

I also roasted some capsicums and stuffed them with cous cous.

For the cous cous, I finely diced some onion, garlic, roma tomatoes and zucchini and fried them. I then combined them with some cous cous that I cooked and added butter. After stuffing the capsicums, I added a bit of grated pecorino and baked them in the oven for a further ten minutes.

I put way too much garlic in the crust!

Monday 15th November 2010

This morning I grabbed breakfast on the way to work. Someone mentioned that Maccas does a breakfast wrap so I thought I'd give that a go.

Macca's Rosti Brekkie Wrap
bacon, egg, cheese, barbecue sauce and a hashbrown

I think the barbecue sauce was what tied the whole thing together. Without it, it would have been too dry and rather bland.

Vince had the katsu chicken.

I had the assorted sashimi donburi.

REGAL ON ROE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
20 Roe Street, Northbridge

This morning we had a great turnout for dim sum!

We ordered three or four of everything!

At home in the early afternoon I was in dire need of a coffee. I couldn't wait to try out my new purchase from Ebay.

'Coffee Duck' reusable capsules for Nespresso.

Following the instructions (that are conveniently in English!), I rinsed the capsules in warm soapy water, dried them and then filled them with some ground coffee.

Into the Nespresso - Success!

Time to leave some positive feedback on Ebay!

After dim sum, I picked up some little treats from an Asian bakery on William Street. A little mini berry tart and a mini fruit tart. Perfect little morsels to accompany my expresso.

Dinner
Scotch Steak with Prawns in a Garlic & Saffron Cream
Roasted Potatoes and Steamed Asparagus

The sauce is from dinner last night. I thickened it up by adding more cream. Oh my - it was divine! I licked up every bit of my plate.

Saturday 13th November 2010

I made these Prawn & Leek Ravioli with wantan wrappers
several weeks ago and popped them into the freezer for a later occasion.

Tonight is that occasion.

In some salted boiling water, I cooked the ravioli.

I steamed some asparagus and made a white wine, chilli and saffron cream.
