Today we took David and my aunty to Swan Valley for the day. Our first stop - Sandalford. We had a wonderfully peaceful lunch in the alfresco area beneath the grapevines.
To start off, we shared a goats cheese platter, calamari salad and bread with dips. My aunty especially liked the dukkah.
For mains I had the half crayfish, Jocelyn had the chicken, my aunty had the salmon, David had porterhouse and I think Christina had the porterhouse too.
To finish off, we shared a trio of sorbet. Yum!
Next we stopped at the Margaret River Chocolate Factory and then went on to find somewhere to have afternoon tea. We stopped at a little restaurant (the name of which I cannot remember) where I had a glass of wine and garlic bread, while everyone else enjoyed the Devonshire tea.
On the way home we stopped along Guildford Road to browse through the antique stores.
After a rest at home, we all headed out to Burswood where we had reservations for dinner to celebrate as today is my actual birthday. We had dinner at Yu.
For starters we had sang choy bao, with a choice of filling of either chicken or scallops. For our mains we had kailan, salt & vinegar chicken, steamed patagonian toothfish, pork in some rich delicious sauce that I don't remember, and a seafood combination claypot.
Being my birthday, I also received a complimentary birthday cake and glass of champagne for everyone. After dinner, my mum and aunty scampered off to the casino while the rest of us stayed to finish our drinks. Needless to say things got a bit silly after the champagne!
