The spread was so beautiful to look at - picture perfect!
It must be known that Teresa prepared most of the goodies and some of the guests ignored the fact that we need not bring anything and brought some dishes along and made the rest of us feel bad - but not for long! The more food, the better, I say!
I don't know what some of the things were but I'll try my best to describe them all!
ham quiche
sausage rolls
mini meat pies
chocolate coated nuts
Marissa's cupcakes decorated with basil flowers
salmon, dill and cream cheese sandwiches
cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches
curried egg sandwiches
scones with jam and cream
strawberries with cognac,
condensed milk and chocolate dipping sauce
Eileen's chicken and salad sandwiches
Eileen's fruit cake slices
Alice's almond sweets
cakes
We had lots and lots of tea and lots and lots of fun. I don't think anyone wanted to leave! If it were not for my dinner plans at home, I would have stayed and persuaded Teresa to make dinner for me =)
Back at home, I got busy making the last minute preparations for steamboat as I was having a few friends over. I made some capsicum yong tau fu with some fish paste and chicken mince combined together. The rest of the ingredients just needed either washing or cutting up. I had made the stock in the morning before I left for Marissa's high tea. I used pork bones, celery, onion and garlic. I don't think it matters too much if the stock is not full flavoured because you're adding lots of different things to it in the steamboat which will add to the flavour.
capsicum yong tau fu
sliced chicken in egg, seasoned with pepper
crab cakes
seafood tofu
prawns
chinese cabbage
lots of coriander
chilli
bee hoon
somen noodles
We watched 'Kung Fu Panda' after dinner and then went to the casino. We all played the roulette and most of us broke even. It's so fun to play when you're winning. Sucks if you lose hehe.
