Anyhow, inside I was thrilled at the large range of goodies for steamboat. We picked out a bag with an assortment of things. I suppose you could call them dumplings? They're mostly tofu with different ingredients. I was also amused at a packet of fishballs in what appeared to be the design of panda faces. So cute! I could barely bring myself to eat it because it was staring up at me from my bowl with those cute little black eyes.
In our invitation, we had asked everyone to bring their own pair of chopsticks as Ben and Ivy don't have enough at their place. In the photo below you can see Kenny brandishing his pair from the inside pocket of his jacket. We ended up using some takeaway wooden chopsticks that Ben managed to get from some place he bought lunch at.
The stock we used for the steamboat was prepared by Ben earlier during the day. I'm not sure what he used, but I think it was pork/beef bones and some vegetables.
chilli
enoki mushrooms
chicken with an egg and pepper
prawns
chinese cabbage
bee hoon
ramen noodles
an assortment of steamboat dumplings
For dessert, Kenny brought a tart and Fee brought ice cream. I had a slice of the tart and an ice cream - two desserts in one night...I can't remember the last time I did that! The tart was delicious...similar to the almondines I used to get from the deli I worked at while I was at uni. The icecreams where mostly flavoured ice with a layer of creamy ice cream. Yum!
After dinner the guys played cards, Ivy napped and I watched 'Hairspray' until we decided to head out to Northbridge for karaoke.
