Singapore Day 28

[1100hrs] My second last day in Singapore! I went to Lot 1 for my usual.

yong tau foo - SD$4.00
1 x bunch kang kong
1 x enoki
1 x piece okra
4 x chillies stuffed with fish paste

I savoured this bowl as I knew it would be my last before I go home tomorrow.

[1300hrs] Back at Aunty's house, I had tea that I bought takeaway from one of the food courts across the street. I love how they package hot and cold drinks in plastic bags that you can easily carry.

tea tarik in a bag - SD$1.50

[1430hrs] I had some leftover soup that Aunty had made.

[1500hrs] Aunty fed Lucas his bottle. He looks like he's just had a night out on the town and is too hammered to realise he's dribbled beer down his face before passing out.

I love his little hands. I love how small and delicate baby's hands and feet are. The little dimples they have. Their little tiny nails. How they grasp your finger tightly and don't let go until you pry their tiny fingers off.

[1600hrs] I veged out for a bit and waited for my appetite to return before having afternoon tea that I bought in the morning when I bought my tea tarik. Aunty chastised me for eating too much and suggested I return to Perth and start exercising - ha ha.

nasi lemak - SD$1.50

Can you believe it!??? SD$1.50 for this!!!! I polished it off in a heartbeat.

[1630hrs] I spent the afternoon playing with Lucas. He's so adorable! I can't help but feel that awful pang of yearning for a child of my own one day. Someone who will look to me to love and care for him. To sing him or her songs and lullabies. To make him or her smile. To do everything I can to make sure they're safe. To have a child's unconditional, unwavering love. Someone who looks up to me for guidance, to shape them into a caring, loving person. Someone who is completely my own.

It's depressing to think that when I'm ready to have a child and I'm single, adoption will not be an option for me. In Australia, they do not allow single individuals to adopt. So...it's either a one night stand, kidnap a child or take up with a guy who is adamant that he doesn't want kids so he'll run off when the bun's in the oven. Ooh, I can't wait!

[1800hrs] Snack time. Kim Kee went to Lot 1 to run errands, so I asked her to bring me back something =)

deepfried octopus stick - SD$1.50
crumbed crab nuggets on a stick - SD$1.50

[1830hrs] Kim Kee fed Lucas his next bottle. I've noticed that Lucas has started to grasp for things with his hands. When I first arrived in Singapore, I had to wrap his little fingers around my finger and hold them or he'd just fling his arm away because his fingers didn't have the dexterity to grip yet. Over the weeks as I've played with him, I've noticed that he's gaining the dexterity so today, I encouraged him to start getting familiar with holding his bottle and Kim Kee's arm.

It was such an amazing moment! He actually held onto Kim Kee's wrist with one hand, and had the palm of his other hand pressed against the milk bottle. They grow up so fast!

[1930hrs]Tonight Kim Kee and her husband, Marshall, took Mum and I across to Lot 1 for dinner to celebrate Mum's birthday today.

Dian Xiao Er

This restaurant is in the basement level of the shopping mall - it's located at the far end of the level so I haven't noticed it before. I love the decor - looks like an Authentic little Chinese eatery. I absolutely love love LOVE the lanterns.

We had the 'Healthier Set' menu - SD$83.

  1. Superior Steamed Rice
  2. Duck Roasted with Ten Wonder Herbs
  3. Oldstyle Steamed Fish Slices
  4. Braised Mushroom with Black Fungus in Chinese Wine
  5. Fish Maw Thick Soup with Black Fungus
  6. Stir-Fried Lotus Root with Macadamia Nut
  7. Sauteed Broccoli with Scallops

I also tried a 'glass' of Chinese wine. It was ok...I got what I suppose you could a 'mid-strength' one from their list. It was similar to sake.

[2230hrs] Richard brought Zhi Heng over to see me before I fly back to Perth tomorrow. I'm going to miss the little guy - he's sooo gorgeous! Hopefully I will see him in February if I can make it for Malcolm and Li Ming's wedding.
