Today I went to South Perth for lunch with Jocelyn, David, Christina and Mum. Since we're all busy with work and study, we only manage to go out for a meal together several times a year. The occasion is usually a birthday or Mothers day, but today it is for Christina as she is leaving next weekend to Canada to hopefully find work and travel.

IN CONTRO

I've been here once before with Ling, Shallen and Kong many years ago. It's a well lit place with a lovely location. It's a pity we couldn't sit outside al fresco style. The weather was a bit chilly but the sun was warm and a glass of wine would have made it perfect.

I love these tiny little tagines
that they use for salt and pepper!

Starters
'Manzo' Pizza - mozzarella, pancetta,
char-grilled mushroom, olives, ham
&
Eggplant Moussaka

The eggplant moussaka came in expresso coffee cups. Quaint, but I was disappointed at the size. There were two of these spoonfuls of moussaka per serve. Lucky we only ordered the one serve since it cost $14. Mum and I had one each. The bechemel sauce was deliciously creamy and overall it was fantastic, but it was like licking the top off of a lasagne. Not much substance to it at all.

The pizza was absolutely gourmet!

Mains

Mum, Christina & Jocelyn:
FOD - pan fried Red Snapper with Salad

David and myself:
Scotch Fillet steak medium
fennel Salad and Kipfler Potatoes
with a Pomegranate Jus

David and I had both asked for our steaks to be cooked medium, but they came out well done. Not happy Jan. The steak wasn't overly tough, but I would have enjoyed it oh so much more had it been medium. Or even medium-rare. I would have sent it back but we were low on time since I had to get home and pack for my flight to Melbourne this evening.

After lunch, we drove to the nearby Globe Cafe on Angelo Street. I love the cakes they make here!

Jocelyn's Lemon Tart

my Raspberry & Mascarpone cake

David's Pistachio cake

We headed home afterwards and I had an hour to pack for Melbourne.
