Sunday 8th August 2010

I'm very happy that I made the most of today. So...what did I get up to?

I went to Fremantle with some friends for lunch. It was good to sit outside, soak up some sunlight and get a good dose of vitamin D.

MAD MONK
33 South Terrace, Fremantle

The establishment's website seems to be down, so no link.

I really enjoy this place, however, today I was a bit disappointed with the service. We were promptly shown to a seat overlooking the cafe strip, but we were pretty much ignored after that. The waitress looking after our section never once glanced our way. She seemed unsure of what she was doing and was simply taking orders from other patrons who were able to grab her attention. Patrons who were seated after us. That is extremely annoying. I ended up having to go to the counter to ask for service. The staff member I approached was very apologetic and she quickly took our order and things were underway.

We shared a pizza,

a side of rosemary potato cubes

and those of us of legal age shared the beer sampler.

FREMANTLE MARKETS

Afterwards, we strolled through the markets. It was so very crowded.

Have you had your two fruits and five veg today?

Alot has changed in the markets since the last time I was there. Some stalls have moved location and there are also a number of new stalls. There was a seafood stall in the fresh food market and they were selling live marron.

These blue marron were $10 each.

Oh, how they remind me of Pinchy.

We stopped by a stall selling fresh roasted nuts. There was a delicious aroma and the friendly stall keeper offered us nuts to taste.

I bought some of the roasted chilli cashews.
They were soooo moreish!! Mum is sure to like them too.

I spent the rest of the afternoon at home tending to chores around the house.

I tidied my room and changed the sheets on the bed.

I cleaned the aquarium and introduced the new fish I bought on the way home from the markets.

I took Simba for a walk.

I cooked dinner.

What's for dinner?

Prawn Wan Tan Soup

Sometimes Mum makes wan tan dumplings and freezes them so we have a convenient supply when time is short to cook dinner.

I bought some enoki from the markets and was delighted to see a small little bunch sprouting out from the base of the enoki.

It's so cute!
