On Sunday I went to the Good Guys and bought myself a Sunbeam Stick Master. I've wanted to get one for yonks now because I've seen firsthand how it's so simple to use and less time consuming to clean than a blender.

Tonight after work, I decided to use the rest of the butternut pumpkin I had in the fridge to make some pumpkin soup - and, I would puree it with my Stick Master!

Pumpkin Soup

  1. Add some olive oil to a pot and sautee some chopped garlic and onion.
  2. Once garlic and onion are softened, add some chopped leek and fry for a few minutes but do not brown.
  3. Add some ground cumin, ground coriander and ground nutmeg and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Pour in some stock (vegetable or chicken) and add chopped pumpkin and potato.

  5. Simmer until pumpkin and potato have cooked and then puree mixture.
  6. Serve.

The aromas that are released when you add the spices are just devine! I used roughly the same proportion of pumpkin to potato. You can also add some cream to thicken up the soup when you puree it, but I didn't.

Verdict: The Stick Master is a worthy investment.

For dinner, I made a big bowl of noodle soup.
