Last night I cooked for perhaps one of the last times in Mum's kitchen before I move out officially tomorrow. What did I make?

Chicken & Vegetable Soup with Pasta Shells

Of course.

With lots and lots of grated pecorino and fresh coriander.

Aahh, I could eat this forever.

Tuesday 21st June 2011

After an errand in the city, I caught up with Jocelyn for lunch. She took me to the Enex100 food court on Hay Street.

Seafood Curry Laksa - $11.50

As expected, the food is rather overpriced but my laksa was good! It took alot of will power to stop myself from drinking all the soup in the bowl.

I stopped by Jocelyn's place on the way home from work and she had gotten some takeaway for my supper.

Spicy Vietnamese Beef Noodles

I was delighted to see they included a huge chunk of delicious liver.

Lots of fresh mint to garnish.

Saturday 18th June 2011

I am delighted to see that my chillies are beginning to ripen and they are growing in abundance! My mum has been working wonders with them by applying homemade liquid fertiliser that she makes using our food scraps and sheep manure.

My Habanero chillies are extra hot!

Bee Hoon Soup with Prawns, sliced Fish Cake, Cabbage
and lots of fresh Coriander

The prawns were sweet and succulent!

Friday 17th June 2011

I have had a bit of a sweet tooth all week.

Today, I shared someone's carrot cake. I love the icing on top!

Then I made myself a hot chocolate (I think my third for the day!!) and treated myself to a Cherry Ripe from the freezer. With all the chocoholics at work, it's amazing my Cherry Ripe was still in the freezer when I went to look for it!

THURSDAY LUNCH - 'VEGETARIAN'

We thought we'd make vegetarian dishes so that one of our vegetarian coworkers would be able to participate in our feasting.

As you can see from the photos, some of us could not resist sneaking in some meat into our food!

Lidie's Polenta Bake - oh my, this was soooo yummy!

Alison prepared some fresh vegetables that we dipped in a spring onion dip.

Mini Beef Pies

Mini Quiches

I made a Fennel & Orange Salad, which went really well with...

Melinda's gorgeous Creamy Garlic Prawns!

Yummo!

Tuesday 14th June 2011

Lunch at Work
Roast Chicken with Cous Cous

Dinner
Instant Ramen with shredded Poached Chicken

Mum had poached a whole chicken to make stock. I love the juicy chicken flesh when she cooks it this way. Especially the skin!

Mum's Shark Fin Soup

After dinner I popped over to Marissa's for a catchup over some coffee and baked goodies.

Taka's on Shafto Lane - Unagi Don

With all the house moving, you'll notice that I've been eating out alot lately.

At work, we ordered pizzas for dinner from Dominos!

Bacon - love the mustard on it!

Supreme

Godfather

Sunday 12th June 2011

I had some help with the painting at the house today and not wanting to go home to cook, we went out for dinner nearby at Yuki Japanese Restaurant in Willetton.

I had the Salmon Sashimi Don

Ling had the Unagi Don

We all shared some Deepfried Capelin.
I think they were called 'Fried Pregnant Flying Fish' on the menu!

We also had some Agedashi Tofu.

We were all so exhausted from the hard work today that we barely had the energy to eat!

Speaking of the house...I have been really busy moving into the house so yes, the posting has been very very slow!

Saturday 11th June 2011

I had dinner with Lisa tonight. Her hubby, Tom, cooked us biryani before he headed out for the night.

I love love LOVE biryani!!

I've been craving vanilla slice all week, and it just so happened that Lisa had made some...well, sort of.

Lisa's Arnott's Lattice Vanilla Slice

I loved the vanilla cream inside. So thick and not sweet!

Thursday 9th June 2011

Gail's Creamy Penne with Sundried Tomatoes (& Chicken?)

Ian's Pumpkin Gnocci

Dr Park's Penne with Spicy Italian Sausage

Alison's Vegetable Lasagna

I made Spaghetti with Smoked Salmon & Capers

Brendan brought a side of Garlic Bread

We were all wandering around like zombies after lunch...

Tuesday 7th June 2011

I went to the Emergency Room at Royal Perth Hospital this morning with a sore eye. After waiting in the triage room for an hour and a half, my stomach was grumbling and I had to seek food. The resident who performed my initial review was kind enough to get a third year medical student to get me some lunch! I assume it was from the staff canteen or something.

A sandwich, fruit, cheese and crackers.

I gobbled it up just in time before they sent me upstairs to the eye clinic.

At work in the evening, I scored some free dinner from next door in the seminar room.

Mushroom Tortellini

Monday 6th June 2011

Beef Stew with Carrots & Peas

Sunday 5th June 2011

Each year Mum takes the time to make a traditional Chinese sticky rice dish.

The dish involves alot of preparation.

These bamboo leaves need to be cleaned.

The rice is partially cooked.

Pork Belly, Lentils, Shitake and Chestnuts are prepared separately.

Mum will set up on the floor of the kitchen and sit on a stool to make these dumplings. Just like how they did it traditionally.

It takes practice and a certain amount of skill to wrap these rice dumplings in the leaves. I remember trying once and it was okay, but I would need a bit more practice to make sure that they're wrapped tightly enough for when you steam them.

Mum always makes some without the dried shrimps for me.

Saturday 4th June 2011

Roast Chicken with Mashed Potato & Wilted Spinach in Butter
