Sunday 10th May '09
My Dearest Readers,
I apologise for my lack of blogging over the past month. As most of you know, I have been away on a cruise to Hawaii and have only just returned. I did bring my laptop with me in the hopes that I would have time to blog occasionally, but the ship was charging $55 per hour to use their satellite internet. I considered it, but decided not to pay this ridiculous amount. Just as well, because I ran into a few passengers who did fork out the cash and they said it took them about twenty minutes just to get to the login page of their email accounts.
So, I will be working hard over the next few weeks to get up-to-date with my posts. I probably won't blog on a day-to-day basis, but just sum up my experiences on each island we stopped at and the 'at sea' days inbetween.
I had the time of my life on this cruise. It was incredibly difficult to say goodbye to all the new friends I made. My experiences onboard the cruise have cemented in my mind what is important to me and who I am. Although I wasn't travelling alone this time, I did have alot of time on my own to contemplate where I am in life right at this moment and even though there are alot of things I am not happy with, there are alot of things that I am very happy about.
Noel & Fleurette - Thank you both so very much for inviting me to join you both on this amazing holiday. I hope that it was everything you hoped for and more. Seeing all those loving couples day in and day out, I couldn't help but be reminded that something is still missing from my life, but you both have found it in each other and I am very very happy for the both of you. *muah*
Ok, enough of the dribbling, let's get on with the blogging! I know some of you are dying to see what I got up to and most importantly...WHAT I ATE!
Saz
*raises her glass* "A toast: while most people eat to live, I live to eat. There's nothing like enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal with a fine bottle of wine in the company of fantastic friends. To life!"

Aah it's good to be home and to sleep in my own bed! After Meng dropped me off home in the wee hours of the morning (thanks Meng!), the first thing I did was to survey the state the house was in. Dirty.
As soon as I entered the kitchen, I couldn't stand the sight the sink was in so I had do the dishes and do a general tidy up. I have to say, my sister is such a messy person to live with.

Hi stranger!
After finally getting to bed after the sun had began illuminating the sky, I slept in until the early afternoon. When I finally did get up, I went outside to check the damage on my garden. The sight was shocking...I felt so broken hearted. All my hard work and time spent on my wonderful garden...it was pretty much dead. A few plants appeared to be hanging on by a thread. I quickly grabbed the hose and gave everything a good watering. The grass was like straw...I felt rather stupid watering straw, but I'm hoping that my lawn will live up to its name and bounce back. I chose Sir Walter because of its drought tolerant qualities. Upon googling it, it has a really good recovery rating so fingers crossed!
Back inside, I saw a note on the kitchen table from Christina, asking if I could cook pasta using up all the ingredients in the fridge. Mum's still in Singapore so she has had to fend for herself and I'm sure she's not enjoying it entirely.

penne with chorizo, onion, garlic, tomato, sundried tomato
and olives in white wine, olive oil and chilli
At work, I finally got to open my Secret Santa present - it was gorgeous!! A little sweets display thing with three little ceramic cupcakes. You can remove the tops off and have lollies or snacks inside. It's so cute!

After work, I went home and Long came over from a night of party-hopping as it is New Years Eve. We had a beer outside in the dark while I watered the lawn. We were both hungry - me from having just come home from work, and him because he'd been out drinking all night. I made some yong tau foo with whatever I could find in the freezer.

baby okra, clam meat, prawns, seafood tofu, capsicum
mee sua
I also made a potato bake with pecorino I had sliced up before I left on holidays that was still in the fridge.
So...another year. I really don't make New Years resolutions. What I do do is take some quiet time to be on my own, have a drink and reflect on my life and how things are. What I've achieved and gone through in the year just ending, and what I look forward to and hope to do in the year to come. Most of my goals are still pretty much the same. Travel, spend more time with friends, argue less with my family, let go of things I can't change and just to learn to stress less.
I had been saving up for Europe, but have since spent most of the savings on my recent holiday to Singapore and my upcoming cruise to Hawaii. That's ok...I still have several years to make that working-holiday in Europe happen. And I intend to.
I think I am happy with the person that I am. Confident, independent, and my own person. I love my friends. They have always been there for me when I needed them. I have all my projects and hobbies to keep me sane and occupied. I go out and make my life what it is.
So, here's to a new year with many many more memories to create and cherish.

Sunday 16th Nov '08
Landing in Geraldton, the weather was warm but there was a breeze about. I took a taxi to the accommodation work had organised and spent a few hours just settling in, unpacking and kicking back. I started worrying when I couldn't seem to get any reception on my mobile. There was no landline phone in the house so my mobile was my only line of connection to the outside world!
Crossing back across the street, I tried to get dinner at the Ocean Centre Hotel but was told that they only do breakfast. What the!? With beautiful views of the ocean right outside their balcony, I thought that was a huge shame. Nevermind, I popped over the street and went to my second choice.
Yum-O! I refrained from eating all the rice in the delicious sauce so that I wouldn't fill up on my first course. The sauce was deliciously creamy but I didn't taste alot of garlic. I don't know whether this is because I usually eat alot of garlic, or whether they went easy on it.
There was a dead bug hidden amongst my salad but I wasn't fussed since this is a town by the beach - there are bound to be some bugs flying around. I asked the waitress to have another side of salad, which she brought out to me immediately with apologies.
Here's a 'diary entry' I wrote while waiting between courses:
Sitting at Skeetas by the window - a beautiful view of the beach and recently constructed park and monument. Two years ago I was here, sitting a few tables away from where I am right now. Pretty much how I feel in life right now. Not much has changed with my life, but alot has changed within me.
I saw this similar scenario while driving in the city yesterday back in Perth. The restaurant I'm in is playing Missy Higgins' "Special Two". Perhaps the song in combination with the sip of my third glass of wine is bringing out the sentimental yearnings in me. The feeling of someone holding my hand as we stroll down the street. A casual arm around the waist. A peck on the cheek goodbye. That warm fuzzy feeling you get when you think about them. The sense of closeness and intimacy you share with someone you love. Knowing that they love you and will miss you when you're apart.
The sun is beginning to set. It's casting a warm serene dimness (is there such a word!?) over the water. I can remove my sunglasses now but I don't want to because I've shed a few tears while writing this.
Okay - enough about this. My oysters are about to arrive any second now.
OH MY GOD this was heavenly!! Now you all know that I'm not much of a dessert person, especially when eating out, but this pavlova was so incredibly light that I polished the whole thing! There was a pavlova base, topped with cream, vanilla ice cream, and a berry compote. Absolutely fantastic! I seriously can't believe how good it was that I finished it!
I watched some TV before bed. I stayed up until about 2am until I was just too tired to put off going to bed and having to face the silence when the TV was turned off. I was left lying in bed, alert and focusing on every sound, my heart jumping at the thought of someone sneaking into the house. Here I am...sleeping alone in a quiet suburb with the strange sounds that come with night in a foreign house. I had to sleep with most of the lights on!
The VGT Omnivore's Top 100 List
I was just browsing a few recipes for bamboo clams when I came across a list created by the Very Good Taste blog - that's pretty much similar to those '100 Books You Should Read' or '100 Movies of All Time' lists that inspire people to be aware of new things to try them, or things they'd like to try again.
Now, you have to bear in mind that the creator of this list was born, raised and lives in London so there is a bit of a British and Western influence.
Here goes...

A few surprises...
Oh my god! I used to think 25 (brawn or head cheese) was just leftover bits of regular parts of a cow or pig that were just thrown together - not actual parts of a cow, pig or sheep's HEAD! ...still tastes good but...=P
Some of the terminology is British so Wikipedia comes in handy. Not to mention for those dishes I've never heard of.
Wow...overall I'm quite pleased with my rating. I've eaten almost half the things on the list. I'm going to set a challenge for myself for the rest of the year. I will attempt to eat some of the things that I have not yet tried and redo the list next year. Call it a late new year's resolution if you will. Let's see...I'll aim to increase my score by twenty. Some of the dishes I'll be able to prepare myself, the others I will have to seek out in restaurants and while on holidays etc. This is going to be fun! It means I'll have to carry a list of these foods with me everywhere I go (including an explanation for some of them!).
You'll notice that I crossed out a couple of things though. I have never smoked a cigarette, nor do I ever intend to try one, let alone a cigar. Not just only because I've battled with asthma for most of my life, but also because I've made the conscious decision not to pollute my lungs with the toxins I'd be inhaling. However, I did try the shisha (otherwise known as hookah) while I was in Egypt. I didn't get one for myself but I tried a puff of it from someone else's. I didn't inhale the smoke...just sucked it into my mouth to taste the flavour (it was apple I think) and then exhaled. You can see in the photo that I didn't particularly enjoy it...

Roadkill...I can't say that the thought of possibly disease-ridden dead wildlife entices me. That and I can't see myself in a situation where I was so hungry I'd need to drag a dead kangaroo off the road to roast on my campfire. Might need to brush up on my bush survival skills...or make sure someone has GPS on our next road trip.

Farewell General Hammond
I finally got around to watching Stargate Continuum tonight. I had to stop and rewind it a few times when the scene with the submarine surfacing in the Arctic came on. The sailor who's on the submarine giving permission for Richard Dean Anderson to come aboard is Barry - a fantastic guy who works for the US Navy that I met in Las Vegas when attending the Star Trek 40th Anniversary Convention. I can't believe I know someone who's now a famous star! haha

On a sadder note, I found out that Don S. Davis passed away a few weeks ago. He's the actor that plays General Hammond in the SG-1 series. I can't believe it. I know I didn't know him personally, but I have actually met him in real life. At the Stargate Convention in Chicago, 2006. I remember walking down a corridor in the hotel and he was walking towards me. I was so in awe that I forgot his real name and didn't want to call him 'General Hammond', so I just said 'oh my god, I can't believe it's you! Do you mind if I have a photo taken with you?' haha. He wasn't scheduled to appear at the convention but the actor who plays John Sheppard couldn't make it because his wife was giving birth. I'll never forget that Don S. Davis took the time to pose for a photo with me.

I managed to cut my big toe while trying to trim my toenail tonight. It bled for over an hour non stop. I finally gave up on swapping the bloody tissues and just put a bandaid on my toe as tight as I could (without feeling that tingly sensation you get when the bandaid is on so tight that it cuts off the circulation) and went to bed. Hope I don't wake up in a pool of my own blood =P

**BLOG UPDATE**
To all my loyal readers (and the occasional browser),
I have finally included 'labels' for my posts so you can find the posts under the topics that most interest you since you can't really browse by title. I have decided to not use titles for now. Perhaps one day...
I've also changed the settings to allow for comments to be posted even if you aren't a registered member or have an account to do so.
So...please feel free to leave me any comments, suggestions, or even corrections if I have mentioned a dish you've made but with the wrong ingredients. I'd love to see some comments posted so I can get an idea of who is actually reading my blog. It doesn't matter if no one reads it though, I still love blogging about food. Who knows...perhaps one day a twist of fate will lead me towards the opportunity to become a paid food critic/reviewer.
A girl can dream.
Happy eating people!

Sazzy's Blog Extreme Makeover
A big change is in the air people!
It has been a long time coming, but I am finally going to get around to managing this blog on a more regular basis as a way for my friends to be involved in what's going on for me.
I'll be posting regularly about all my food escapades, being such the foodie as I am. I won't be backtracking through everything that I've done throughout the year so far because it would just take me way too long to do that! Instead, I will update you with the highlights of the last few months and continue forging on with upcoming experiences.
Lately it's become a fun way for me to get out amongst friends and enjoy their company without having to get dressed up or spend alot of money as everyone seems to be on budgets nowadays. Instead, I rock up (sometimes in my pjs!) with some miscellaneous ingredients or they come over to my place and we do our own 'Ready Steady Cook'. Without the time constraints though...heehee
Sooo...if you're liking what you see and would like to get involved, get in touch with me!
I hope to have you all drooling very soon!

Home Sweet Home
Dear Diary,
I got home a few days ago and am really glad to be back! There was no jetlag because the flights were timed really well so I slept on the long flight to Sydney that left midnight Tuesday night and arrived in Perth about 11:30am Thursday. Where did that day and a half go!? I invested in one of those neck pillows this time and boy did it make a difference!! It's only been a few days since I got back but the whole trip already feels like a huge dream. Lots of entries to catch up on since I couldn't manage to log into my blog while I was over there. *flexes fingers*
It's great to be sleeping in my own room and in my own bed again!!! However, I really miss all the friends I made while over there. It was a great lifestyle...waking up and heading out in the morning...coming back to the hostel in the early afternoon and taking a nap. Then heading out again later. I found it true that Aussies and New Zealanders were the friendliest people I came across. The Brits were ok too but some were a bit reserved.
Now lies the huge task ahead of reconstructing my five weeks away. I guess I will break it down into the different places I was at. If anyone is interested...
UPDATE OCT 24TH '07 - I will be reconstructing my holidays on this blog not only so you can all see how much fun (and alcohol) I had, while I was away, but because I like to wander through all the mischief I got up to and remember the GOOD TIMES!

Day ZERO
Dear Diary,
Well it's Day ZERO! (Thanks Cambot)
I'm pretty much all packed up...just the last minute things like toothbrush, hair brush, etc. I'm feeling nervous yet excited. I went for a drive to the shops earlier to get some last minute items and was just enjoying the drive. I'm really going to miss the freedom of zipping around Perth in my car...window rolled all the way down with the radio blaring.
Just showed my mum my flight plan on our world globe. She's freaking out that I'm going to be all alone on the other side of the world. So am I.
Eight hours to lift off!! Or take off, rather.
'Up in the air I fly. Zoom Zoom Zoom Zoom Zoom' - anyone remember this song from playschool!? =P

5 Days
Dear Diary,
Well I've had a very busy 5 days off (still one more day to go!).
Wednesday: I really don't remember what I did that night! I must have had a quiet one at home with a glass of 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot - really really reaaaaaally good drop!
Thursday: Went to the Flying Pantsman (Scotsman) and it turned out to be karaoke night!! Was hilarious. Drank Stella pints.
Friday: Had a coffee date with a guy I met over rsvp.com - he turned out to be really nice and friendly. I'd really like to see him again. In the evening went to a friend's for pizza and then we all headed out to the Shed. Had an okay time but it was the band's last gig and so their third set was just all instrumentals and ballads. I took on a guy when he was making fun of one of my new friends and he backed off. I guess I can look mean and tough when I want to. I could have taken him. *flexes muscles*
Saturday (tonight): Had nothing to do since everyone had their own plans so tagged along with a heavy metal friend to crash a party in Trigg beach. Man was that a weird party!! I felt completely out of place except the Crownie in my hand. There were a couple of guys in animal suits. The girls were um...*ahem*.. We watched the first band perform in the tiny little lounge room and they were pretty good. Well at least I enjoyed it. But then there was an intermission before the next band and we went out the back. We found a balcony/tree house sorta thing that someone had built out the back and went up there and watched the crowd. I got hungry and luckily my friend was too so we headed off to KFC down the road and then couldn't be bothered returning to the party.
Sunday (well since it's now 3:00am it's today!): Going to high tea at the Hyatt with some girls from work and then to cocktails afterwards. After that who knows! I think I need to detox after this stretch of partying. All i wanna do is curl up in bed and watch tv. Or just stare at the ceiling.
Ok...I think my computer is tired now too coz it's lagging as I type. One more week of work (in biochemistry of all departments!!) and then several days to organise and finalise everything before I head off to the states. I'm feeling really nervous and excited at the same time.

Busy Busy Bumble Bee
Dear Diary:
Went to dinner tonight with some friends. Just listening to some music and procrastinating bed time right now. I've got the suitcase out on the floor ready to be packed. Two more weeks until my long awaited holiday to the US. I have alot to do until then!
The next few days are going to be busy ones for me. Tomorrow's sorting out my tax stuff. Possibly a date in the evening! Friday I'm having a big night out with anyone and everyone. Probably heading to the Shed. There always seems to be a huge queue to get in so the band must be good! Saturday will be for recovering from the big night out and perhaps going out in the evening. Sunday I have high tea in the afternoon with some girls from work. Then cocktails afterwards. Then back to work Monday.
I'm in the mood for a tear jerker right now. I think I'll go and watch Bicentennial Man. Love that movie =).
Saz.

Time Flies!
Dear Diary,
I've been busy with work (as usual) and planning my upcoming trips. I've been caught with the travel bug!! I've always wanted to travel but before it was a question of finance. Then it became a question of time. Now it's a matter of booking flights in the spur of the moment and then planning it out thoroughly afterwards! I've got two trips this year...first to the US in August/September and then to Egypt in November with a side trip in Singapore to see family on the way back.
So...five weeks in the US. What is a girl to do!? Well Shaune and Markus are coming with me to Vegas and we are sooo wreaking havoc at the Star Trek Convention. Shaune and I are also going to spin some unbelievable yet believable yarns to the Americans about life down under. We should have Markus direct a hidden camera to capture the amazement on their faces as we tell them how our koalas get high on eucalyptus leaves and our kangaroos are known to steal purses which turn up when the rangers do their monthly pouch inspections. The guys are leaving me after Vegas...then I shall continue on to Chicago for the Star Gate Convention (whee!!), then New York New York, then on to the city of angels (Los Angeles)...then back home to Perth to my own bed! I'm a bit anxious travelling alone for most of my trip...being a helpless girl and all. But I'll be staying at hostels and hopefully hook up with some interesting and sane ppls there!
Egypt...always wanted to go there. Can't wait to ask the tourguide in my oh so serious face 'where is the star gate actually buried? Can we go see it? Do SG-1 come by this way often?'. But seriously...I'm going there to attend a Nile River Workshop that's work related so it's tax deductible!!! I found out about it at a conference weekend and then a week later I had booked my flights and was scrambling to get the finances together. Spontaneous Saz!
Well..not much has been happening other than all the planning and stressing over the finances. Still making time for friends. But they're all paired up now or gone overseas and I'm becoming the odd wheel. The odd smaller wheel. I'm looking into perhaps joining the dating scene. I dunno...I mean I can easily go and ask out any cute guy i see but I just don't have the energy to play around. I just want the perfect guy to appear (on a day that I'm having a good hair day) and for me to know he's the one and just concentrate all my energy on him rather than dispersing it in several directions going on multiple dates. Maybe I'll meet someone while I'm in the US and he'll fall in love with me and fly to Perth to find me.
Ok...time to go to bed and really dream.

Another New Year...
Another year...what will this year bring me? Another year of repetition, I suppose. It gets like that when you're working insane night shifts. You fall into the pattern of waking up, eating, going to work, coming home, eating, going to sleep....*RINSE AND REPEAT*.
I've just realised how emotionally detached I've become lately. I no longer have the time that I used to have to just sit and lull over things that I'm missing in life. I guess subconsciously I've been keeping myself busy to avoid having to think about these things too. But on occasions like this, I can't escape.
I've been single for almost three years now. Don't get me wrong - I love the person that I am...free spirited and independent. But I miss what I once had. Someone to confide in. Someone to wake up next to. Someone to share my thoughts and dreams with. Someone to care for. Someone to love me. Unconditionally.
At work there are several women expecting children at the moment. Just seeing them walking around pregnant makes me so envious. And then there's my sister who has a boyfriend and has no intention of ever getting married or having children. And here I am alone. The irony.
I've been dishing out relationship advice but I don't even have one of my own. I feel like everyone around me is only just beginning to experience what I've already had. And how do I tell them to just enjoy it while they can before they get down to the nitty gritty of knowing what they really want from a partner? I feel that by knowing what I want, I am closing myself off to everyone. It just feels like no one I meet (on those rare occasions) even comes close to what I am looking for. Yet I also feel that when I finally find someone, I'm going to be compromising part of myself. Being single for so long, it would no doubt take some adjusting to feel comfortable relying on someone else to carry me.
But looking at some people who have partners...I can't help but feel 'if they can find someone...why the hell can't I!???'
I can't help but feel a part of my life is missing. I feel hollow. There's part of myself that I'm unable to express. Be it cliche and all but...I have so much love to give but no one to give it to. There HAS to be someone out there for me. But how long is it going to take till I find him? No doubt I will have to find him. As with all relationships I've had, I've done the chasing. I tell myself I'll sit tight and wait for some guy to chase after me. But who am I kidding. Guys don't often know what they want. Until it's too late.
So...2006 is looking to be a fantastic year for me - keeping busy with work so that I don't delve into these depths of dispair often.
Perhaps I will hop on the subway tomorrow and find a guy smiling at me. I'll try to smile back if I'm not overcome with shyness like I usually am.
Who am I kidding. We don't have subway trains in Perth.

Alone but not Lonely
It's been a while since I've visited this diary. Been so busy lately that I haven't had time to really feel down about anything. Had my last day of training in blood bank on Friday and from here on it's scientist work for me. At least I'll have some regularity with my work roster now. But being part time, it's only a matter of time before I get rostered on for extra shifts - what with every department being short staffed right now.
Made myself a steak dinner tonight (and last night was the same menu). Porterhouse medium to well covered with sliced muchrooms and pepper gravy. Served with a side of steamed green beans and baby corn, and baby roast potatoes with butter and herbs. Accompanied with half a bottle of cab sav and a toast to myself. "I may be alone, but I'm not lonely".
Or at least I try to keep telling myself that. The months and years are going by and I still am yet to find someone that gives me that warm fuzzy feeling when I see him. I just don't see myself realistically finding anyone. Even if I did, he wouldn't know the real me. I've been through so much in my life - how can someone know who I am if he only sees me now that I've conquered all those hard times in my life? He will only see the person i am now, and not the person who I've become. And the same the other way around. How will I know the person that he really is and not the person whom he wants me to know him as? Being single so long has let me have lots of time to think about things like this. It just makes me wonder whether I will be able to connect with someone that deeply ever again. Will I meet someone who makes me want to know everything about him? Friends can't fill this void in my life. For the past few years I've come to feel that there isn't going to be someone who can.
People aren't perfect. But how will I know whether I'm compromising myself and settling for something less than what i want or expecting too much and not giving someone a chance? AARGH too much to think about!
Bed time.

Mad Scientist Saz
Well...so much has happened since I last posted an entry on here. Let's see...I'll do up a list:
1) I've become quite the entrepreneur at the weekend markets
2) I've started making and selling earrings again
3) I've gotten the multi-disciplined medical scientist job that I've waited all year for
4) I've completed and received my tax return - most of which will go towards my car loan
5) My mobile has been stuffed up due to some incompetent person in NSW who issued my number to someone else
6) Shaune's back in Perth but he's going away again really soon - thank Satan
7) Stabbed myself with a serated (gosh is that even how you spell it??) steak knife
Yes...I've been quite the busy little bumble bee. How did I stab myself with a steak knife? Let's just say it's left a jagged cut on my right hip so it looks like I've had a kidney removed and been stitched up. (It's not that bad!)
Just been really busy with work and making earrings lately. Acquiring more beads off ebay and a larger credit card bill. Barely have time to watch TV. But Stargate season 9 and Atlantis season 2 are starting to be put up on the net so gotta my hands on those to watch in a little while. Sweeeeeet =P~
Over and out swollen ostrich
1) I've become quite the entrepreneur at the weekend markets
2) I've started making and selling earrings again
3) I've gotten the multi-disciplined medical scientist job that I've waited all year for
4) I've completed and received my tax return - most of which will go towards my car loan
5) My mobile has been stuffed up due to some incompetent person in NSW who issued my number to someone else
6) Shaune's back in Perth but he's going away again really soon - thank Satan

Job Interview
Today I had my interview for a multi-disciplined medical scientist at work. I was getting so nervous the closer it got to 11am...but when I saw the interviewing panel, I was a bit relieved. It consisted of the senior-scientist-in-charge, the scientist in charge of transfusion, and a senior medical scientist - all of whom I've had the pleasure to work with. Although I felt nervous and was trying to not fidget with my hands under the table (I know what you're thinking Shaune - not that type of fidgeting - har har), the interview went pretty well, I reckon. I felt comfortable with the questions that they asked me because I've covered them either at uni or while I've been working there as a laboratory assistant. I have a good feeling about this...fingers crossed =)
I cleaned out my wardrobe tonight - my room was like a warzone with boxes of glass jars and paper crafts everywhere. I had a very narrow path between piles of boxes from my wardrobe to my door and computer. But luckily we managed to sign a treaty by about 1:30am and I am now relaxing with a glass of cab sav (red wine, for those who aren't wine-savvy) and a tasting plate. Mmm octopus =P~~
Gonna head down to the markets this Sunday morning to see if I can make some money from my knick knacks. I'm also going to try to sell some of my stars and perhaps jewellery if I have time to make any before then. So...depending on how it goes on Sunday, I may perhaps think about making it more of a part time hobby to make some income on the side.

E-Bay!
Made my first E-Bay purchase today! That's right...100 skeins of DMC cotton with free shipping! Can't wait for them to arrive!
Nothing exciting has happened this weekend...just work as usual. I had a craving for spaghetti bolognaise tonight so I've cooked the mince...and it's sitting on the kitchen bench waiting to be made. I'll get around to it soon...
So sleepy...must sleep in tomorrow! Whee! It's freezing - I feel like I have frostbite in my right hand. Won't say where the left one is =P

Saz the Wino
A quiet night at work tonight...managed to get home on time. Had my favourite spicy vietnamese beef noodles tonight. With 3/4 of a bottle of chardonnay. Watching Babylon 5 as I eat and drink...makes me think...
When I drink I start feeling a bit lonely. I was watching 'Cold Squad' one night and the lead actress said 'there's a difference between being lonely and being alone'. Most of the time i am just alone. But when I have a few drinks I start to feel lonely. And reminiscent. I'll know when I've found the right guy when I find myself in this situation: he goes to bed while I stay up to watch a couple of Star Trek episodes and eat my dinner with a few glasses ofwine. And he won't complain when I come to bed smelling like chilli and wine. I should cut down the amount of chilli I eat to avoid getting a stomach ulcer...
I'm not unhappy with my life right now. I just worry that I will run out of time to do the things that I want to do. That I won't be able to adhere to the timeline that I have mapped out. Even with a bit of give...there does not seem to be much hope of it working out the way I have loosely planned it. I'm not going to measure my happiness based on my career - although that seems to be going in the right direction. I'm going to measure it based on my happiness in regards to finding someone to share a family with. I can't wait to have a family of my own.
This is all the wine talking.
Half a glass left to go. Then perhaps I will get some sleep tonight.
Stupid Snails
Dear Diary,
Tonight I picked up some spag bol on the way home from work and I went outside into the garden to pick a couple of chillies from the plant. I was feeling so happy with myself for managing to pick two big chillies in the dark...and when I got inside I almost cried because I found a little snail on one of the chillies! =/ After I recovered from the shock, I boiled some water and drowned that wretched little slimer and disinfected my chillies and had them with my dinner - mmmm =P~~
I had half a bottle of wine to go with dinner. I really should lay off the wine...we went through four bottles on Saturday night - two at dinner and then we picked up two Tyrell's 1996 Chardonnays and took them to karaoke afterwards. Drank every last drop. And I imagine I threw up every last drop the next day. But it was such a great night! Aside from not going far enough to make the stupid restaurant manager cry - she had no idea what she was doing so we gave her the sympathy vote.
I was given an indian name tonight at work - Rabid Rabbit. All because of my new Swatch watch that I wear. You tap it and the hands swing around to select which sexual position you should attempt, as illustrated by the rabbits in the clock face. A brilliant invention. Great for the indecisive.
I have begun watching Babylon 5...I must admit I am getting addicted to the bad acting, lame scientific jokes and crude special effects. Chief Geraboldi (however you spell his name) reminds me of Luke Groundrunner from the Thumbwars movie. I think he's the only character worth watching.
Okies...time to silence that ever complaining Shuane. He thinks he's God but we'll go along with it since he never got to play with any barbies when he was a little girl growing up.
