As soon as I entered the kitchen, I couldn't stand the sight the sink was in so I had do the dishes and do a general tidy up. I have to say, my sister is such a messy person to live with.
After finally getting to bed after the sun had began illuminating the sky, I slept in until the early afternoon. When I finally did get up, I went outside to check the damage on my garden. The sight was shocking...I felt so broken hearted. All my hard work and time spent on my wonderful garden...it was pretty much dead. A few plants appeared to be hanging on by a thread. I quickly grabbed the hose and gave everything a good watering. The grass was like straw...I felt rather stupid watering straw, but I'm hoping that my lawn will live up to its name and bounce back. I chose Sir Walter because of its drought tolerant qualities. Upon googling it, it has a really good recovery rating so fingers crossed!
Back inside, I saw a note on the kitchen table from Christina, asking if I could cook pasta using up all the ingredients in the fridge. Mum's still in Singapore so she has had to fend for herself and I'm sure she's not enjoying it entirely.

At work, I finally got to open my Secret Santa present - it was gorgeous!! A little sweets display thing with three little ceramic cupcakes. You can remove the tops off and have lollies or snacks inside. It's so cute!
After work, I went home and Long came over from a night of party-hopping as it is New Years Eve. We had a beer outside in the dark while I watered the lawn. We were both hungry - me from having just come home from work, and him because he'd been out drinking all night. I made some yong tau foo with whatever I could find in the freezer.

I also made a potato bake with pecorino I had sliced up before I left on holidays that was still in the fridge.
So...another year. I really don't make New Years resolutions. What I do do is take some quiet time to be on my own, have a drink and reflect on my life and how things are. What I've achieved and gone through in the year just ending, and what I look forward to and hope to do in the year to come. Most of my goals are still pretty much the same. Travel, spend more time with friends, argue less with my family, let go of things I can't change and just to learn to stress less.
I had been saving up for Europe, but have since spent most of the savings on my recent holiday to Singapore and my upcoming cruise to Hawaii. That's ok...I still have several years to make that working-holiday in Europe happen. And I intend to.
I think I am happy with the person that I am. Confident, independent, and my own person. I love my friends. They have always been there for me when I needed them. I have all my projects and hobbies to keep me sane and occupied. I go out and make my life what it is.
So, here's to a new year with many many more memories to create and cherish.
