Lisa invited me over for lunch today. She made a gorgeous salad with capsicums she'd roasted herself and bocconcini.

The kitchen was warm and full of the lovely smells of homecooking when I arrived. We poured the wine and gathered around for the first of Benoit's creations.

Fish & Chips Pizza

O.M.G. This was the pizza of the night! The little pieces of fish (I think it was barramundi) were battered and deep fried before being added to the pizza where there were already very thinly sliced potato 'chips'. A squeeze of fresh lime and it was absolute heaven!

Peking Duck Pizza

This pizza was also delicious! We were focusing on eating the gorgeous toppings and discarding the turkish bread so that we could have room for the third pizza!

I think this was a Chicken & Mushroom Pizza

With lots of cheese!

We had a clear winner tonight. The FISH AND CHIP PIZZA!

Princess Cake...

...and Apple Strudel for dessert!

Fresh Bread.

Lots of fillings!

We were all very happy with this healthy lunch.

I recently purchased an ice cream maker online! I've been wanting to get one for yonks and now I need to find the time to use it! I'm thinking I should make up a list of all the different flavours I want to make and cross them off as I go.

My first batch of homemade cooked custard Vanilla Ice Cream!

Fresh Fettuccine with Seafood and Leek

I have been buying the fresh pasta from the shops lately. They cook alot faster than the dried instant sort and they do taste alot better too! One day, I will start making my own pasta...just need to find the time...and motivation!

I caught up with a good friend I used to work with for lunch today. We went to this tiny little store that I have heard about and wanted to try and she highly recommends it. We ordered two plates to share.

They were soooo good! I must go back there soon!

Roast Chicken with Thyme and Vegetables

Saturday 2nd June 2012

Last night the Benoit gang and I went for dinner at Lapa Brazilian Barbecue in Subiaco. We had the all-you-can-eat for $49 and as such, we were determined to eat our money's worth of meat.

We ordered some of the side dishes but tried to keep eating these to a minimum. The meats arrived on swords and the staff members sliced or pried them off for us when we nodded eagerly and said 'yes please!'

I spent all night waking up in hot sweats...must have been alot of salt or something in the marinades. The meats were really well seasoned and flavoured but I guess I'm not used to eating so much salt.

We ate so much meat, we were dreading the fact that we had two chickens waiting at Benoit's place to be cooked for our dinner tonight. As soon as Benoit got home, he threw one of the chooks into the freezer and we agreed we'd cook just the one chicken and let Kong eat it since he didn't come to Lapa with us. The rest of us would just eat vegetables.

I've been getting lazy at bringing my camera with me this week...these photos are from my phone!

entree: Benoit's Pumpkin Soup

We roasted the chicken with homemade stuffing.
Onion, garlic, celery, bacon, sage and breadcrumbs.

We roasted potatoes, carrots, corn on the cob, cherry tomatoes and green beans.

main: Roast Chicken and Vegetables

The chicken turned out really well! Despite last night's meat overdose, we all managed to eat the whole chicken.

dessert: Benoit's Coconut Sago

Friday 1st June 2012

I joined my neighbour for lunch today. A deliciously healthy lunch with a few glasses of wine and great company! Then I waddled back next door to do some housework. Love my neighbours!

...and brought a can of Dolmades.

Louise made Spinach and Ricotta Filo Triangles.

Brendan brought in freshly baked Turkish bread and dips.

Neelam made a Spicy Potato Soup.

Ursula brought something for those with a sweet tooth.

Mum did alot of cooking and friends of the family helped with the BBQ.

Jocelyn was very proud of her cupcakes with Stargate chevrons.

Christina made my birthday cake(s). All three of them!

My own puddle jumper!
