I spent today at the Subiaco laboratory for a refresher in Transfusion getting acquainted with the automated machines there. It was a nice change being there.
After work, I went to my house to shower and then went over to my now second home (he he). I checked on the garden - haven't had to do any watering since it's been raining nearly all week. The catalogues were delivered today so I sat down to go through them while waiting to be picked up for dinner.
Noel, Fleurette and I went to the Cookhouse on Warton Road, Southern River (or is it Brookdale?). On arrival, at first glance I thought the sign read something else - hee hee.
The place seemed nice enough, a bit bare and the decor a mesh between backyard shed and vintage diner. We had to wait a while before a waitress came to take our order, and then it as an hour and a half wait before our meals finally arrived. We were famished!
Despite our meals being decent serve portions, my chips were cold, the batter on the fish cold and soggy. Noel's dish was pretty cold and the steak was overdone instead of being medium. Fleurette's steak was the size of a roma tomato. Not happy Jan!
I managed to just dig out the fish from amongst the oily cold batter and then we went to the counter to pay and upon letting the person know of our complaints, we were asked to fill in a feedback coupon that went into a box to be drawn to win a dinner for two voucher at some later date.
We drove past my friend's house that I'm watching so that I could grab a change of clothes and then we went to pick up some takeaway from Chook but they were closed! Wah!
Back at Noel and Fleurette's place, we made up a platter and had a few glasses of wine. We watched a movie and forgot about our dinner blues until I got back to the house and got hungry. I had bought some beef mince yesterday so I made some pasta.
I'm starting to feel more comfortable around the house on my own now. It does remind me of how lonely it can get living away from home on your own though. When I used to live with my ex, he would leave me home alone on weekends while he went on dive trips. When I moved back to my parents' house, it would be so quiet when everyone was out at work or uni. It makes such a big different having a pet to keep you company. When I finally get my own place, I will definitely be getting a dog. It just makes you feel safer and at ease knowing there is someone else there with you.
