When the caffeine finally wore off and I crawled into bed, the sun was already bathing the sky in a rosy orange hue. I had a few hours to sleep before having to get up to head back to Marissa's place. I struggled out of bed. It was the thought of dim sum that kept me from hitting the snooze button for the third time and deciding to stay in bed all day.

First stop - the Re Store on Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley. I was in foodie heaven! We bought some cold meats, cheese and an Italian dessert to share.

Rum Ba Ba

Dragon Seafood Restaurant

On Francis Street, Northbridge, this is run by the same owners of the Jade Garden Restaurant, which is just down the road. We waited about five minutes before getting a table but we were seated at the far end of the room against the wall and beneath the air conditioner unit. It was a hot lunch and we weren't in prime position for the trolleys. We had to wave a few over throughout the meal.

steamed prawn dumplings
steamed prawn & chives dumplings
chicken feet
steamed prawn & rice balls
pork gyoza
steamed siew mai
fried white carrot cake
deepfried squid - only one tentacle remains!

The servings are apparently more generous than at the Jade Garden and they supposedly have more 'dim sum chefs' working in the kitchen to bring to life their delicious menu.

Dinner
Hokkien Noodles with Vegetables

I didn't have any meat in the fridge (it was all frozen) so we just had vegetables. There was enough for dinner and to pack for lunch the next day.

Dessert
Mini Pavlovas

I bought the mini pavlova cases in a pack of ten from Coles. You simply add a dollop of cream and whatever fruits you desire. I used yellow nectarine, fresh blueberries and some passionfruit pulp from a can.

After dinner, we went out to karaoke at Utopia on James Street, Northbridge, to celebrate a friend of a friend's birthday. Jocelyn tagged along for a few hours until she met up with her friends later in the night.

By the time we left, our voices were hoarse but we were still not ready to call it a night. We decided we'd do a Maccas run. When we got there, they were locking up so we had to go through the 'drive thru'. Long and I waited at the end of the queue of cars while Fee brought the car around.

We went for another drive to Scarborough Beach to eat our food. Great decision - it was fanstastic sitting out in the fresh air at night eating our fillet-o-fish burgers.

Fee and I played around with the settings on our cameras to try to take the perfect shot of the moon in the sky over the ocean. I think I did a pretty good job with this one.

shoes off!

time to head home...
