Being my first day off work since I've come back from holidays, I finally had a chance to hit the shops for some much needed grocery shopping.
In the afternoon, I went outside to water the garden again. Yes, I'm praying my plants will recover with a little extra love and care - in the form of water. I checked to see what was salvagable. My beetroots have been in the ground for over six months now - I unearthed a few and was pleasantly surprised with a little beet on the end. I pulled out the rest but some were much too small to eat, but I think the heat's been the main reason they haven't grown much. Nevermind, I will get some more to replant later.
I got busy in the kitchn preparing some food. I had bought some fish paste from the Asian supermarket and stuffed some chillies and capsicums with it. I didn't think to wear gloves while removing the seeds from the chillies, so my fingers were burning a few hours later (and burning for several days after).
I prepacked little zip lock bags with yong tau foo 'mixtures' so that it's quicker and more convenient for me to make supper when I get home from work at night. I made combinations of chillies and capsicums stuffed with fish paste, clam meat, prawns, okra and seafood tofu.
Simba's been craving attention since I've gotten back. I know he's been itching to go for a walk but it's just been far too hot to take him out.
I headed out to catch up with friends for dinner.
We were actually going to go to Viet Hoa but they were really busy and it would be a bit of a wait for a table. Especially as we had a nine people. So, we headed up the road to Lido.
rare and cooked beef, beef ball and tripe hofan soup
I thought I'd go for something different instead of my usual. So, I this dish, which come to think of it, it pretty much the same dish minus the spicy soup.
A few of us shared a bottle of wine.
After dinner, we headed back to Benoit and Ivy's place, but not before going through the drive thru at KFC - hee hee.
