Tonight I celebrated my 26th birthday with friends and family by holding a BBQ at home.

The theme...HOLLYWOOD PARTY.

Not having much time to really decide what I could dress up as, I spotted a leotard style top when out shopping with Vicky one day so I decided to dress as Madonna. Yup, I wore a leotard in the freezing cold that night...cooking the BBQ.

My guests included Jim Carrey (the Mask), Xena, Ben Kenobi (Star Wars), Groundskeeper Willie (the Simpsons), Jack Sparrow, Princess Fiona, Hugh Hefner and one of his bunnies, Vicky Pollard (Little Britain), Snow White, Chun Li, Fonzie, Audrey Hepburn, Lara Croft and a few soccer players. My cousin, David, picked up his costume while in Japan. I forget the name of the Japanese movie star he was supposed to be...but the wig he bought to wear was absolutely cool!!

We had the usual BBQ staples: various sausages, chicken wings, and lamb satays. I also made some mini burger patties to go with the mini bread rolls to make mini hamburgers. Never liking to have alot of leftovers, I always try to cater to the number of people I have attending. That's why RSVP's are so important!!

I also made some 'pig-in-a-blankets', tuna and cheese pastry puffs, prawn cocktail salad, pasta salad with spinach, bacon and pinenuts in a mustard vinegrette dressing, melba toast canapes, and a cheese and cold meats platter. We had alcoholic and non-alcoholic punch. I was so busy running around that I didn't have time to take as many photos as I would have liked. Pity.

After being locked out of the house for almost an hour, I was finally allowed back inside to find that some of my friends had filled up the empty fish tank we have and set it up with some fish. I've been meaning to set it up for my mum but never got around to doing it.

Let's say for the next few weeks I've pulled up a chair to watch the fish for an hour or so before bed each night. It's addictive and calming.

I'd like to say thanks to all those who helped me out with my party preparations. I was at my wits ends when an hour before everyone was due to arrive, nothing had been set up. I got so caught up with all the plans we had made for showing our cousin and aunty around that I didn't have time to prepare for my long awaited party. You know who you are -
THANK YOU SO MUCH =).

As people started leaving, the rest of us crowded into the lounge to end the night with some karaoke.

Simba had enough and went to sleep under the couch while we were enjoying our karaoke
