Singapore Day 1

[0600hrs] Touch down in Singapore. Our cousin David was waiting for us at the airport and drove us to our Aunty's place in Choa Chu Kang. We were all so excited to see our cousin's gorgeous baby boy for the first time.

[1300hrs] Decided toget our hair done at Jantzen Salon - SD$78.00

It took about half an hour to explain to the hair stylists how I wanted my hair done. Usually I have half a head of foils done in a Loreal fuschia. I have a small top layer of hair that isn't dyed so that the regrowth isn't obvious. The hair stylists kept thinking that I wanted a base colour with highlights on top. It got a bit confusing because we use the terminology differently but in the end it was sorted out and they were really patient and willing to listen so that they could get it right.

First off, a shampoo wash. I didn't think it was necessary since I'd sorta washed my hair after the swim. I didn't use shampoo but my hair didn't feel wiry or dried out from the chlorine. After the shampoo wash, I went back to my seat infront of the mirror and a technician came to start blow-drying my hair on the left. Not even a minute later, a second technician came and started blowdrying my hair on the right. I was amused and curious to know if this was their usual efficiency via teamwork or if they were just speeding the process up since it was quiet in the salon. The hair stylist who seemed to be in charge of the 'team' working on me explained that they usually have at least two technicians working on the same person. Go teamwork!

I started nodding off while they were putting my foils in. The lack of sleep on the plane ride over was starting to take its toll on me. The shampoo rinse to get the hair dye out of my hair was refreshing and when I sat back down infront of the mirror, I eagerly sipped the warm cup of tea they had set down for me the second I stepped into the salon.

[1600hrs] Bought snacks to take home for afternoon tea.

6 x pieces spicy Nonya fish Otak Otak - SD$3.00
1 x octopus & 2 x prawn Takoyaki balls - SD$2.50
Sushi: 1 x shark fin, 1 x jellyfish, 1 x ebbiko - SD$2.10

[2100] David took us to dinner at 190 Live Seafood Restaurant nearby. We sat outside beneath a ceiling fan. I love eating outdoors like this. I suppose it's their equivalent of alfresco dining.

Egg Omelette
Oat Prawns
Pork Cutlets
Stirfried Beans
Pepper Crab
Chilli Crab
Man Tau

Tiger Beer to wash it down

total cost - SD$84.00

[2300hrs] Aunty cut up some fruit for us at home.

Papaya - isn't it pretty!? I've only ever used the green papaya and cut it lengthwise so never noticed the star shape cavity.

It's been a really long day of eating and getting used to the humidity. It's only been our first day here but I feel like it's been a week.
