Singapore Day 25

[1200hrs] We had some maintenance guys come to do some repairs to my Aunty’s apartment today so while they were there, I decided to go downstairs and laze by the pool to avoid the dust and chemicals. It was a beautiful day and peaceful aside from the handful of kids splashing around in the Jacuzzi. All I wanted to do was nap but the seats weren’t comfortable enough for that so I worked on a crossword, popped some Willy Wonka Nerds and spaced out with my mp3 player.

[1545hrs] I napped most of the day and finally woke up at at 3pm and went across the street to Lot 1 for food.

As I wasn't feeling well, I was eating so very slowly and couldn't even finish half of the bee hoon. Wah what a waste!

[1800hrs] I’ve booked four nights at the Siloso Beach Resort on Sentosa. I would have loved to stay at the Sentosa Resort but that place is as beautiful as it is pricey. Anyways, check-in is at 3pm but I didn’t want to have to wait amongst all the other guests checking in so I caught a taxi at about 4:30pm. That and I spent most of the morning not feeling too well. I had a few cups of green tea last night and I think it had a real detox effect on me. I was throwing up green bile all morning.

After checking out my room, I headed out on foot to explore.

Right across from the hotel, there was a beach. I walked barefoot through the sand for a while but the water looked really murky and I wasn’t tempted to go for a swim.

Without any maps of the island, I had to stop and look at the maps posted up on tram stops along the way to get my bearings. I saw people walking towards me with drinks so that was a good sign that there was somewhere to get food up ahead.

Sure enough, I finally hit some food stalls when I approached the Underwater World.

[1900hrs] I found a stall that sold sweet corn! Since I’ve been in Singapore, I haven’t had any yet – can you believe that!?

According to the maps I’d seen, there wasn’t much else around me so I walked back the way I came and past the hotel. If I kept heading in this direction, I should come across some restaurants and eateries on the beach.

Coastes

Sure enough, I found a gorgeous place with deckchairs and tables right on the sand, with the water only meters away. I went to the bar that resembled a little outdoor hut and ordered something.

Seafood Platter - SD$35.00
mojito - SD$14.00

The weather was soooo humid. STICKY! I think the heat really got to me because I lost my appetite and barely got through half the seafood I ordered. Time to head back to the hotel and have a nice bath, methinks.

[2000hrs] Back at the hotel, I drew a hot bath and phoned housekeeping to ask for bathrobes for the second time since they hadn’t brought me any while I’d been out. I waited about forty minutes before getting fed up and hopped into my bath. The bathroom had a window so I was able to soak and watch TV at the same time. The shows I watched were in Chinese so I was able to just read the subtitles and didn’t have to worry about not being able to hear.

[2200hrs] After my bath, I phoned housekeeping again for bathrobes. A few minutes later, I received a call to let me know that due to ‘high usage’, there were no more bathrobes available. *pfft* how ridiculous is that!? A four star hotel that can’t stay on top of their laundry – or haven’t got enough robes for the number of guests they can accommodate. Not happy, Jan!

[2300hrs] I felt hungry since I hadn’t eaten much all day so decided to get room service. The only thing I felt like was soup, so I got the soup of the day.

tomato soup – SD$8.90

I was surprised that they baked a layer of pastry over the bowl. I was hoping for a slice of bread but the pastry was a nice alternative.
