Back at home, Mum had made one of my favourites and she'd left a bowl's worth in a pot on the stove so I could reheat it.
Alas, my mum had made the mistake of beating the egg before adding it to the soup, just like she did last time! She's starting to get absent-minded lately! I much prefer it when the egg isn't beaten but it still was yummy. Serve it with some black vinegar and lots of pepper.
After the soup, I went hunting for something else to eat. I decided on some giant baked beans and marinated baby octopus. The beans were delicious - I love the rich tomato sauce they come slathered in. The baby octopus was a huge disappointment though! I'd checked the date before opening the jar but couldn't find an expiry date so thought it should be okay since it should be preserved in the oil. I was wrong. The octopus pieces practically crumbled apart when I tried to pick them up with a fork. They're going in the bin!
Not quite satisfied with just the beans, I decided to finally get up and make something. There was a pot on the stove that someone had boiled some cabbage and a chicken maryland piece in for stock. I used that and added a few things to make some soup with pasta. I added a spoon of samba oelek, some vegeta stock, Italian parsley and the shell pasta once I'd cooked that al dente. I shredded some of the meat off the maryland and broke the cabbage up into smaller pieces.
