[0900hrs] Mum bought me breakfast.
[1300hrs] Went to Novena Square so we could all have some reflexology. Mum, Aunty and David had theirs done at one place, Christina and I had ours done at another (because they couldn’t fit us in all at the same time). Christina and I both had the foot, shoulder and hand massage for SD$38.00 - if you pay with Amex you receive a 10% discount. I’ve been keeping an eye out for stores that give discounts for using my Amex. At last...it’s coming in handy!
[1430hrs] Lunch at Lam’s Kitchen - can’t remember which road it was on though. It’s not an area of Singapore that I would normally venture into...it’s more local I suppose.
but had one dry and one with soup
[1500hrs] After lunch, we headed back to David’s place where he made us a coffee. We’d picked up some (and by some, I mean somewhere between 10 and 15) bread rolls from David’s favourite bakery at Novena to bring home for afternoon tea. Christina and selected some savoury and sweet ones and snipped them into smaller pieces to share.
Some of the flavours we had included pizza, chocolate, fruit scone, and tuna. My favourite had to be the lobster curry. There were actually pieces of real lobster inside! It only cost $SD1.50!!
[1600hrs] Mum and Aunty relaxed while David took Christina and I out to catch up with his friends for a coffee at the Dome beside the Singapore Art Museum.
As usual, I asked for a soy long macchiato. I was brought an iced soy macchiato. I think they assumed I wanted the iced version because they sell macchiatos ‘iced’ under the same category as frappocinos and the like. They were quick to fix the problem when I simplified it for them - double shot, topped up with soy milk.
[1900hrs] We met up with Jocelyn and her boyfriend at Brewerkz on Clarke Quay for predinner drinks.
Golden ale - thumbs up
Organic Ale - thumbs down
Indian pale ale - thumbs up
Oatmeal stout - two thumbs down
Darkside lager - thumbs up - smooth
Fruitbrewz - two thumbs up - raspberry
XIPA - thumbs down
Moh Gwai - two thumbs down
[2000hrs] Dinner at Jumbo Seafood.
Scallops Wrapped with Yam Ring
Chilled Marinated Jellyfish
Crispy Fried Baby Squids
Nonya Duck Salad
Salted Egg Golden Prawns
Broccoli with Crab Meat & Conpoy Sauce
Steamed 'Soon Hock' Fish
Chilli King Crab
'Mee Goreng' Fried Noodles Malay Style
Chilled Honeydew & Sago Cream
Normally, I don’t really eat sago much, but this dessert was absolutely titillating! (Always wanted to use that word!) It was so light and refreshing. The rockmelon flavour wasn’t overpowering and it was a delightful way to end the meal.
[2100hrs] We went up to Jocelyn’s hotel room to watch a Singaporean TV series that airs between 9-10pm each weeknight. It’s based on the Paranakhan culture and basically like a Singaporean version of the Bold & the Beautiful - hee hee!
[2200hrs] Home!
