ROAD TRIP TO LANCELIN

We piled into the car this morning and set off on our journey. The weather was warm, the roads were quiet. It was a wonderful drive to Lancelin. We found a picnic and BBQ area by the beach and set up for lunch.

Onions for the hotdogs!

I love hotdogs. Eating them outdoors make them even more tastier!

Ben's Dad gave us some chicken skewers to bring with us. They were straight from the freezer so we kept them cooking for quite some time to make sure they were cooked all the way through. They were marinated in some spicy sauce - some sort of Indian flavour.

After lunch we went in search for a way to get to the sand dunes. We finally found a way in and clambered out of the car in excitement. The boys waxed up their boogie boards and we all ran/fell/trudged up the dunes. The sand gave way beneath our feet at every step and it was huge effort to reach the top. The sands were blowing and the breeze strong.

Our attempts to sand board failed. There was too much friction between the boogie boards and the sand and so we were able to slide about a metre or so before coming to a complete stop. Next time we need to try those metal pizza plates. Or snowboards that other people in the distance were using and succeeding with.

We popped into the local IGA to grab a few hand reels and went to the jetty to try our luck. I caught a blowie and we headed back to the car for the ride home.

Back home, I couldn't wait to wash all the sand off me. Not to mention my hands that smelled like fish. I felt like a nice big bowl of noodles in soup.

I shall sleep well tonight.
